JOURNAL ENTRY 10 March 2010
Today we learnt about time and distance I would like to learn more about reading a time graph.
Sounds like a good goal Amara! Mrs. Breeds

JOURNAL ENTRY 15 March 2010
W.A.L.T we are learning about different time zones around the world andhow to culculate time differences.
Did you run out of time? Please finish.

JOURNAL ENTRY 18 March 2010
Today we worked on ways to go we learnt how to work out what buses to take it wasn't too challenging but I got stuck at one place and Mrs Breeds had to help me.
Remember - not a description of what you did, but what you learnt!

JOURNAL ENTRY 19 March 2010
W.A.L.T. We are learning about the difference between celcius & fahrenheit for temperature. To change fahrenheit to celsius you ( -32 x5 divide by 9)americans use fahrenheit.
Yes - where is your explanation of the difference between these two measures, who uses which one etc?

JOURNAL ENTRY 20 March 2010
W.A.L.T. Use temperature as a strategy to help us add and subtract integers.
I used this strategy in maths extension last year so I am used to it and i think its a good strategy.

JOURNAL ENTRY 19 April 2010
WALT use a number of different problem solving strategies
Today I learnt a few more problems strategies.
Amara I am hoping that the quality of your journal entries are going to show a marked improvement in the immediate future. Your journal is a reflection on the learning that is happening for you. This is the vehicle where quality of thinking is important. When you are making an entry such as this I want you to tell me what you specifically learnt and how this is valuable to you. I would like to see tomorrows entry before you leave class.

JOURNAL ENTREY 21 April 2010
Today we divided up a page on what we did know thought we knew and did know I didn't know about data much much so I need to find out more. some I heard of but didn't know what it was some i had never heard of.

JOURNAL ENTRY 27 April 2010
yesterday we learnt how to draw a histogram and now i understand how to find out if its discrete or continuous. Today we did our glossary.
Amara a journal is a reflection of your learning not a diary, Please explain what you mean by discrete and continuous data.

JOURNAL ENTRY 3.5.10
Today we did a questionare about have you ever been bullied we got some really good ideas but some of them were not specific enough it wasn't verry chellenging because we worked together.

JOURNAL ENTRY 5 May 2010
W.A.L.T Display data using a box and wisker graph.
Today we learnt to use a box and wisker graph at times I got a bit confused but then I got the hang of it.
What did you get confused about? It is good to see your thoughts are being shared but I would like more detail about what you are learning. FOr example what did you learn about box and whisker graphs as there is some quite specific stuff.

LEARNING JOURNAL 6 MAY 2010
W.A.L.T.Create a mathmatical poster using geometric shapes.
Today we made our posters I have finished but it is not the best.
This is a what we did comment. What did you learn about using geometrical shapes to create a mathematical pattern? This is only your first draft too.

LEARNING JOURNAL 13 MAY 2010
W.A.L.T. Create a maths poster and do our statistical study survey. Today we carried on with our maths poster and our surveys my survey graph wouldn't save so that got anoying. And my maths poster wouldn't print properly.
Yes frustrating things. Tell me about what you are trying to do with your poster.

LEARNING JOURNAL 14 may 2010
I am trying to print a border and it is checked and lined but it just prints out plain black. Today we got into our groups and learnt how to draw a pie graph with a compass and protractor and we could also draw a doughnut graph. It was very interesting i never knew what a protractor was for and now i do yay!
I am glad we have given you this important piece of information Amara. They are certainly important pieces of equipment at this level of maths.

LEARNING JOURNAL 17 MAY 2010
Today we worked on finishing up stuff like our glossarys and some of our statistical study aims and hypothesis. Me and Hyoen joo kim are taking a while on our glossary but we will get there.

JOURNAL ENTRY 20 MAY 2010
Today we learnt all the thing we needed to know about excel and worked a bit on our graphs. I am a bit disappointed in my results in my olympiad because i made a silly mistake but at least i got 3/5.
And next time you will use that time to check with another strategy. Amara don't fall into the trap of telling us what you did - remember we are looking for what you learnt. Read the journal starters at the top of the page.
